2019 Swim and Dive Information

Welcome to the 2019 Swim season!

The season will begin on February 12th. During the week we will have time trials.  Each swimmer will swim 100 Freestyle for time.  These times will be used to organize the training groups. Training groups will be posted later in the week.

The training groups will be:

Group 1: Monday – Friday 2:05 – 3:30 This group will consist of the top swimmers in the program who are not training with their club teams. This group will be chosen based on their ability to train and compete at the Varsity level, and factors such as speed, effort and attitude.

Group 2: Monday – Friday 3:30 – 4:30 This group will consist of the Junior Varsity and Frosh/Soph swimmers who are familiar with all 4 strokes and can do them legally.  This group is also available for swimmers who would otherwise be in group1, but have a 6th period.

Group 3: Monday – Friday 2:05 – 3:00 This group will consist of the swimmers who are new to the sport and may need additional help with getting their strokes and basic skills.  These swimmers will move up to other groups and will compete when ready.

Club Swimmers: You will be released to your club coaches for training.  Check in with the coaching staff each day for attendance purposes. Your attendance at all meets will be discussed individually, however league meets will be mandatory.

Your attendance is mandatory at all scheduled afternoon practices. If you don’t show up you will be marked absent. You must be ready to put forth your best effort each day.

Practices will be held over Spring Break (times TBA).

Grades: This is a class. You will receive a grade based upon your effort and attitude as well as your improvement over the course of the season. This is not an automatic A. Swim meets  will be treated like exams, if you miss one without approval, you will be graded accordingly.

SONORA AQUATICS ATHLETE/PARENT CONTRACT

I have received and read the 2019 information packet. I am aware that missing team events, practices, and meets will adversely affect my grade. I understand that I will lose points towards the final grade if I leave meets early or fail to do my part to help with the event set-up and clean-up. I also understand that no late orders for apparel will be accepted. I will put forth my best effort an always strive to represent Sonora as an exemplary Student Athlete.
